What data is collected and why

Analytics data

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), installed via the Site Kit by Google plugin. GA4 collects anonymised data about how visitors use the site — pages visited, time on page, device type, and approximate location. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

This data is used solely to understand how the site is performing and to improve content. It is not sold, shared, or used for advertising targeting.

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) where consent is not required for anonymised analytics data. Where consent is required by applicable law, it is collected via the cookie consent banner before analytics cookies are loaded.

Contact form data

If you submit a message via the contact page, your name, email address, and message content are collected. This data is used only to respond to your enquiry and is not added to any mailing list or passed to third parties.

Legal basis: Consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

Email subscriptions

If you subscribe to email updates via the form on this site, your name and email address are collected and stored by MailerLite, our email service provider. This data is used solely to send you updates about new guides and occasional site news. It will never be used for third-party advertising or sold to anyone. You will receive a confirmation email before being added to the list. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. Your data is not used for any other purpose and is not shared with third parties beyond MailerLite’s processing.

Legal basis: Consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

For full details on how MailerLite handles your data, see their privacy policy.

Telegram channel

This site operates a public Telegram broadcast channel. You can follow it on Telegram. Following the channel is anonymous — no personal data is collected, stored, or processed by Latitud8 through Telegram. Telegram’s own privacy policy applies to your use of their platform.

Cookies

This site uses cookies. See the Cookie Policy for a full breakdown of what cookies are used and why.

Who your data is shared with

Your data is not sold to third parties. Data may be processed by the following service providers acting as data processors under appropriate agreements:

Google LLC — analytics and site performance (GA4, Search Console, Site Kit). Data may be transferred to and stored in the United States. Google operates under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Hostinger — the hosting provider processes server-level data in accordance with their privacy policy.

MailerLite — email subscription management. Stores subscriber names and email addresses for the purpose of sending site update emails. Data is processed in accordance with MailerLite’s privacy policy and GDPR requirements.

ThirstyAffiliates — affiliate link management. No personal data is collected by this plugin beyond standard server logs.

How long data is retained

Analytics data is retained for 14 months in GA4 (the default setting). Contact form submissions are deleted within 12 months unless there is an ongoing reason to retain them. Server logs are retained by the hosting provider in accordance with their standard policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to access — you can request a copy of the personal data held about you.

Right to rectification — you can ask for inaccurate data to be corrected.

Right to erasure — you can ask for your data to be deleted, subject to any legal obligations to retain it.

Right to restrict processing — you can ask for processing to be limited in certain circumstances.

Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format.

Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

CCPA / CPRA (California residents) — you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to opt out of its sale (this site does not sell personal data), and to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

To exercise any of these rights, use the contact page. Requests will be responded to within 30 days.

Data security

This site uses HTTPS encryption. Access to the WordPress admin area is restricted and protected by security plugins. No payment data is collected or processed on this site.

This policy will be updated when the site’s data practices change. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
